You can create compact graphical timelines by drawing different nodes on a canvas. The nodes are connected via lines or arrows. You can save the timelines you create and you can add, edit and export the timeline. The tool is easy to learn and use. Just add the objects you need to the timeline and save. The timeline objects are represented by wxTimeLineObject objects which are directly linked to a tree view. The timeline is updated automatically when you edit the objects. The core application is a plugin of the wxWidgets timeline toolkit. It can be run in isolation. The wxTimeLineEditor core application does some heavy work. It is responsible to save all changes you make. The wxTimeLineEditor core application can be used with wxWidgets. You can run it standalone or integrate it in your application. The timeline objects are represented by wxTimeLineObjects. The wxTimeLineObject has a pointer to a class wxTimeLineObjectBase. This object is responsible to do all the drawing work. The wxTimeLineObjectBase is a virtual class and is not instantiable. Each wxTimeLineObject has a pointer to a wxTimeLineObjectBase object. This pointer is used to find the objects you need to update. All the changes you make are stored in a modified list of the objects you added or edited. When you click a button you move to the next object you added to the timeline. You can also add or remove objects by pressing the right mouse button on them. The timelines you create can be exported to XML, Gexf, Dxf and other formats. The application can be used on all desktop systems that support GTK+3 (but you need to compile it yourself) and Qt4 (see binary package for latest Qt version). It also works fine on Mac OSX. The Windows version (C++/Qt) needs the appropriate version of wxWidgets to be installed. The Qt5 GUI version is in progress.
